More and more adults are deciding to get the COVID-19 vaccination to keep themselves, and their friends and families safe. Pennsylvania hit almost 70% for fully vaccinated adults on October 8th, according to the CDC. The second to last week of September 2021, the 19142 zip code had one of five of the biggest increases in first dose vaccinations across the city. Other zip codes included 19124,19132, 19139, and 19140.

With more adults receiving their vaccine, the city is hoping to reach herd immunity eventually. However, research still hasn’t been finalized regarding the number of people needed to reach herd immunity for COVID-19. Until then, continue to have conversations with friends and family about why they should receive the covid vaccine. Children under the age of 12 are unable to receive a vaccine at this time, which should be even more reason to get vaccinated. The vaccine will protect you from serious side effects. Without the vaccine, you are more likely to be hospitalized or succumb to the virus. Dr. Fauci stated that fully vaccinated families can enjoy each other’s company around the Holidays.
