Voffee Jabateh (left), Executive Director and Founder of the African Cultural Alliance of North America (ACANA) shakes hands with Philadelphia City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson the to acknowledge his appreciation of the $125,000 from the City toward development planning of a portion of Southwest which ACANA hopes will become “Africa Town” due to the predominance of African Americans and African immigrants in the population. ACANA is a non-profit organization that serves African and Caribbean immigrants by providing access to social and legal services, community development programs, health services, organizing African arts and culture events, and an array of many other services.
