This year’s Annual CityLights Vigil for Remembrance of Victims of Violence will be held Saturday, December 14. Community members and friends are invited to gather at The Common Place, on 58th Street and Chester Avenue, at 9:00 a.m. for refreshments, meditation and prayer. The Common Place entrance is through the parking lot on 58th Street.

Participants will then form into small groups which will fan out through Southwest to locations where violence claimed a life during the past year. This year’s remembrances will include the spot near Finnigan’s Playground where Isiaka Meite was killed and five others were injured when a gunman opened fire on a graduation party on Fathers’ Day weekend.

At the conclusion of the site visits, the mourners will return to The Common Place for a time of meditation and reflection on the meaning of their experiences.
