WHATCongresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05) will join Share Food Program Executive Director George Matysik and staff members to hand deliver boxes of food at no cost to seniors throughout the Southwest Philadelphia area.

The deliveries are made possible through the Senior Food Box Program (SFBP) at Share Food Program, the largest-serving hunger relief organization in the Philadelphia region.

Members of the media are invited to join at Connell Park before the deliveries kick-off to speak with Matysik and Scanlon about food insecurity, the importance of volunteerism, and to capture hunger-relief efforts in action. Media may follow along in their own vehicles as the deliveries begin; parking at/near delivery locations is not guaranteed as the drop offs are taking place in residential spaces.

During COVID-19, Share Food Program has been providing free boxes of food to qualifying seniors; eligible recipients are entitled to one 30-lb. box of nutritious, shelf-stable products each month.

Seniors have the option of picking food up from a convenient site near them or having it delivered to their home. Share Food Program delivers hundreds of boxes of food a week to seniors who are unable to safely leave their homes.
