Money for Families: Most Philadelphia families are eligible for a new monthly payment from the federal government of $250 or $300 per child starting as soon as July 2021! You must file taxes to claim the payments for your children, even if you have little or no income and do not usually file taxes. The payments are part of the new Child Tax Credit, and they will come from the IRS. The payments will not affect other public benefits like SNAP, TANF cash assistance, SSI, or Medicaid. Adult Education Grants (Deadline May 16): Through the Adult Education Program Support Grants, the City of Philadelphia will provide grants to expand opportunities for adult education providers and the learners they serve. School District Summer Programs (Register By May 13): The School District of Philadelphia offers summer academic instruction and extracurricular activities for students in all grades this summer. Dates and times: 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday-Friday, June 28 – July 30. Extracurricular activities will focus on arts and athletics.
University of Pennsylvania Scholar Success Academy (Deadline May 15): The Scholar Success Program is a series of free, entirely virtual postsecondary access programs designed to prepare Philadelphia high school students for the pivotal next steps of educational and career pathways in a post-pandemic world. Dates and times: Monday, June 28 – Friday, July 30, 2021. Qualifications: Eligibility: for rising seniors (will have completed 11th grade this school year).
