During the month of October, Paschalville Library will again present its popular Employment Boot Camp for job seekers, followed one week later by its annual fall job fair, sponsored by Citizens Charitable Foundation.
The Employment Boot Camp, a full afternoon workforce development course, will be held on Wednesday, October 23, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. On the agenda is a résumé workshop, signing up for email accounts, mock interviews, and tips and tricks for successful interviewing, as well as a storytelling workshop, to assist job seekers in presenting a complete picture of themselves to prospective employers. Attendees are encouraged to plan on attending the entire session, and registration is requested, as space is limited. Please contact Digital Resource Specialist Omelio Alexander at Paschalville Library to sign up: email alexandero@freelibrary.org or call 215-685-2262.
The fall job fair—held one week later, also at Paschalville Library, on Wednesday, October 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—is an opportunity for prospective employees to introduce themselves, get valuable face-time with recruiters, and complete applications on the spot with a variety of employers across diverse fields. Many of these employers are part of the nearby Paschalville community. Already scheduled are employers such as the United States Census Bureau, United Postal Service (UPS), Lincoln Heritage, the Philadelphia Fire Department, Caregivers America, Childcare Careers, Avon, and more. Prospective employers may still register for the fall job fair at https://forms.gle/FyCixf1xg1m1c7QD7.
At the job fair, job seekers can expect to hear about positions in the fields of health care, childcare services, customer service, recruiting, public service, office administration, and education. A high-school diploma or equivalent is sufficient for many positions, with no prior experience necessary and the opportunity to train immediately on the job.
Attendees may visit the Paschalville Library Job Readiness Lab ahead of time on the day of the job fair to print out copies of their résumé. Indeed, many attendees will be familiar faces from recent visits to the Job Readiness Lab, facilitated by Digital Resource Specialist Omelio Alexander. Patrons receive assistance as well as two free printed copies of their updated résumé.
The Job Readiness Lab is generally open during all regular library business hours. Participants are encouraged to visit the Job Readiness Labs at Paschalville Library and Southwest CDC throughout the year for help with their job-seeking and professional development needs.
