The great annual Beer & Boats event on the Schuylkill River at Bartram’s Garden the afternoon of June 6th was an incredible success this year, according to organizer June Mansfield, the Garden’s Development Coordinator. “Nearly 250 guests supported the garden while sipping brews and kayaking along the Schuylkill River,” recounted Mansfield. “We couldn’t be more thrilled about how the event has grown and how many amazing people, including our drink partners and community members, show their support and help our garden flourish.

Setting up their beer dispensing facilities on the river – with the dramatic Philadelphia skyline in the background – were drink partners Cartesian, Crime & Punishment, Dock Street Brewery, Get Cozy Vintage Mobile Bar, Philly Homebrew, Separatist Beer Project, Sir Charles Hard Cider, Sly Fox, and Yards Brewing Co. “All of our visitors had a fantastic time and our vendors are excited to come back next year,” added Bartram’s Garden’s LJ Brubaker. The proceedings were also assisted by the Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild.

As advertised, Bartram’s made available a fleet of kayaks and rowboats which were continuously in use throughout the afternoon. The jolly event also included the music and comments of lively DJ Femi, and there was plenty of food provided by the Dos Hermanos truck. It was decidedly family and dog-friendly!
