LIHEAP opened on November 2nd and Southwest CDC is now open mornings from 8:30 – 1:00, Monday – Thursday.  LIHEAP is a federal program designed to assist low income people with their winter heating costs.  Documentation of income, social security numbers and all utility bills are required to complete an application.  Contact Nann at 215-729-3948 or nanzetta@southwestcdc.org.

Due to schools being closed, Southwest CDC’s after school program has gone virtual.  While students 5-10 have to be on a computer, program leaders have carefully planned activities that are fun and educational and different than classroom learning.  To sign up, contact Jackie at 215-730-0450 or Jackie@southwestcdc.org.

Some of the after school employees are now working with Rec Center staff at the City Access Centers, a place that children can go during the school day where they are safe and are able to log into their classroom, while they’re parents go to work. The Access Centers where Southwest is working are at Myers Rec Center, Cobbs Creek Rec Center and Finnegan Playground.

Southwest CDC still offers assistance for being behind in mortgage and property tax payments.  Contact Katie at 215-729-5072 or Katie@southwestcdc.org.

Financial education workshops are continuing monthly online. Southwest CDC and M&T Bank have established a partnership to help people improve their personal wealth through education.  The workshops are an excellent way to learn how to understand your personal finances better including credit scores.  To sign up, contact Nann at 215-729-3943 or nanzetta@southwestcdc.org.

For general questions, call 215-729-0800 or email Lorraine@southwestcdc.org.
