Sports Group Holds Free Camp August 2-5

2-4-1 Team will introduce 3-9th graders to variety sports 

John Bartram HS new football field at 5847 Elmwood Avenue will be the scene of a novel sports activity during the week of August 2 – 5 this summer.  The Sports Activity organization 2-4-1 will provide a sports sampling opportunity for Southwest Philadelphia youngsters going into grades 3-8.

 The four-day free camp is officially known as a comprehensive Physical Literacy Development Program that blends the traditional 2-4-1 Sports camp model of sport sampling with TOP Self™ social emotional learning and character skill development.

A typical morning schedule would include the introduction of a 1st new sport from 9 – 10am, a break for reflection and transition between sports; a 2nd new sport from 10:30 – 11:30am; and wrap up until 12:00 noon.

A definition put forth by the National Association of Physical Literacy (NAPL USA)  is “The ability, balance, confidence, desire and explorative nature to be active for life.”
