The program will feature two qualified healthcare professionals, Anika Carter LMSW and Kaniya Samm MPH who operate Rooted LLC based in New York City and are joining via the internet.

Carter is a practicing clinical therapist and full-spectrum doula with five years’ experience working with a range of clients of all ages, according to the Rooted LLC website.  Rooted LLC works on a person-center basis with a variety of community-based programs and federal agencies on mental health concerns, substance abuse, and other life situations.   She received her MSW from New York University and her B.A. in psychology from San Francisco State University in California

Samm has been practicing in her field of women’s health for eight years, having earned her M.P.H from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her B.A. in Ethnic Studies and Sociology from Mills College.  In addition to being a doula and the Co-Founder of Rooted LLC, she currently works as the Head of Operations at Radical Health Inc. in New York.

According to Eloise Clayton of Turning Points, “Telehealth” is the term for using digital electronics like cell phones, mobile devices, and home computers to obtain up-to-date information and communicate on a virtual basis with doctors and other healthcare providers.

“For a special treat, we will be offering a drive-by meal pickup for all registered participants,” advised Clayton.  For more information about the Zoom telecast or the free meal, contact Shanee Dunn 267-403-1984 (sdunn@turningpoints.PHMC.org)
