Weekdays, members of the Common Place team spend hours helping youngsters with the schoolwork. Whether enrolled on a virtual basis at one of the are public schools, or taking partial classes at one of the hybrids, the students receive caring academic help, plus timeouts for games and snacks at the community center located at 58th Street and Chester Avenue.
Past few weeks have been extraordinarily busy at The Common Place which is also home to the Salt and Light Congregation and the CityLights Network.
On Election Day, last week, TCP served as one of the vitally important polling places, relieving the Myers Recreation Center of some of its many voters.
Food distribution takes place on Saturday mornings for the benefit of needy area families.
The Common Place was the idea of Wayne Presbyterian Church which acquired the former premises of New Spirit Community Church and completed extensive renovation of the venerable facility.
