Packing or delivering hot meals for deserving Philly families

Operation Turkey will once again pack and ship out thousands of hot meals for deserving families on the morning of Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022.    For Philadelphia, the packing and shipping-out location will again be at The Common Place, 58th Street and Chester Avenue.

For the past five years, Operation Turkey has mounted a campaign to provide hot meals to upwards of 75,000 homeless and less fortunate residents of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, and Florida. This year, the goal is 55,000 meals.

Operation Turkey volunteers work throughout the year to ensure everything is in place to prepare, package, and deliver warm meals, care packages, and clothing donations to those in need from 8am – 12pm Thanksgiving Day

Here are some Operation Turkey Volunteer tips for Thanksgiving Day:

  •   Plan to show up at 8:00 am wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes for safety.
  •   Select what you would like to do. Cooking, cleaning, delivering, packaging, or plating; there is always a job to be done.
  • Kids are welcome and encouraged to come out with parents or guardians.  There are special programs for the younger members of your family. They will get to share the great Operation Turkey experience with you, and it will help open their young eyes to the importance of giving back to their communities.
