DHS is working to support the unique needs of youth in order to prevent them from entering the juvenile justice system. Intensive Prevention Services (IPS) focuses on children between the ages of 10 and 19 who are having issues in their home, school or community and provides them with meaningful programming to promote healthy development while addressing the behaviors that brought them to the program.
IPS will customize a plan for each youth to: strengthen their sense of self worth, enhance life skills, provide academic support, and improve relations at home, school and in the community. These services are free and youth can be referred by their family, school, the police department or the court system.
